The term “portrait” has different meaning for each of us, for me it’s simply a photograph of a person or group of people. Perhaps a simple personal portrait that captures the essence of an individual, maybe a model portrait capturing beauty and elegance, maybe a formal “corporate” headshot, or perhaps family togetherness & happiness captured as a cherished keepsake.   

Different moods and styles require an understanding of photography, but a far more important ingredient of a great portrait is an understanding of people and of the aim of the portrait.
